Where is the Dream Island of Isla Mujeres, Meaning The Island of Women?

The Island of Isla Mujeres lies to the northeast of Cancun, Mayan Riviera, Mexico and is surrounded by the crystal turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. View the stunning Sun Rise at the southern tip of the Island, being the most eastern point of Mexico.

Isla Mujeres is within the state of Quintana Roo and nestles on the eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. Its geographical coordinates 21 12` 0″ North, 86 43` 0″ West and features a flat terrain.

Isla is approximately 5 miles long and half a mile wide at it’s widest point. On the east side of the Island is the Caribbean Sea with a strong surf and rocky coast and on the west the skyline of Cancun is seen. Downtown and Hidalgo Street can be found of the north of the Island, where many shops and restaurants are located. At the north end of the Island is the famous white sand beach of Playa de Norte.

The weather is consistent throughout the year with an average temperature of 80 degrees and 60{e62c403cac7b8cc681803c2c1698f145e7e75e28c1e1f16a71410c7fc8558a25} humidity – which is just PERFECT!!

There is an approximate population of 14,000 most living in the North Eastern corner of the Island. The main industry of the Island in bygone was fishing, but now is tourism.

Isla is subdivided into nine different districts all with their own distinctive character these being, North Beach, Downtown, Caribbean, Waterfront, Colonias, South End, Caribe, Garrafon, South End and Sac Bajo.

The preferred transport of Isla Mujeres is either, a moped, golf buggy (great fun) and for the less adventurous are taxis. The locals are friendly with a lifestyle, which is relaxed and tranquil.
